Rich O'Brien's Bio

Rich  O'Brien is a singer-songwriter-guitarist who now lives in the Kansas City area, but is originally from New York, where he played out on Long Island and in New York City. His love of music has caused him to embrace a number of musical styles - Rock, Blues Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Progressive Rock, and Americana.

Rich's passion for the guitar reflects these styles as he plays lead, rhythm, and fingerpicks both 6 and 12 string guitars. His music ranges from hard rock to soulful singer-songwriter. His songwriting draws from a rich variety of sources - Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, Robin Trower and the Steve Miller Band. His contemporary influences are Blackberry Smoke, Duane Betts, Widespread Panic, and Goose. These influences are reflected in his songwriting and his passion for improvisation on guitar.

Rich often plays out in the Kansas City area either as a solo artist or as an acoustic duo. When he plays as an acoustic duo, his songs are presented in an improvisational manner with lots of room for jamming.
